Newbie trying to print to a printer :(

I am running Fedora Core 3 and have a hp 4100 DTN that I am trying to print to, how do I do this?

I tried hooking it up to the parallel port, but couldn't get that to work. Then I tried hooking up directly to the printer using a crossover, but still no luck.

A co-worker and I modified some files to get the IP to the printer straight a few days go; although that worked it only printed from the command line.

Doesn't want to do anything today

Can anyone tell me what path/filename that was I was at when i got it to print last week??

thanks everyone!

I fixed a similar problem--not being able to print to the parallel printer port--by changing the computer's parallel port BIOS settings from Enhanced to Normal. (I forgot the exact terms, and I am not currently at the correct machine to check, but that was the idea that worked.)
