Angry Newbie Modem Prob: I connect but thats it.

I got the modem set up using KDP and am able to connect to my service provider but when I try to brows using Netscape entering www.yahoo.com. I get a response from netscape saying netscape error. In the errror dialogue box it says "warning the following host are unknown" and it gives a list of addresses that netscapse was trying to get a hold of like: home.netscape.com, home6.netscape.com, internic.com. It also says, "Perhaps there is a problem with your name server. If your site must use non-root server, you will need to set the $socks_ns environment variable to point to the appropriate name server.

In kppp DNS name server dialog boxes I placed the ip address to my ISP's name servers primary and secondary addresses.

Also I don't have a gateway set up or defined.

Anyone got ANY Ideas. Im a newbie to linux using it for only a week or so. Im using an external Diamond supra modem 56k and Red Hat 6,
