Newbie : Help with Samba Needed
 

Hi ppl,

please help iv got a red hat 8.0 server, and am trying to network to a windows workgroup, things are going brill can see the server in my network places, no probs can see all users homes brilliant, but when i create a share on the linux box,

i can see the share but sometimes i cant access it, sometimes i can, but can never seem to write to it, any ideas

O and because iv been havin so much problems iv even tryed using webmin but same problems. Any ideas

Post your smb.conf file and we'll have a look.. Sounds like a setting is tweaked wrong someplace..

Another thing is check the permissions for the folder that you are using as a share you may have to chmod it to get to write to it I had the same problem, and after a cgmod it worked fine
