newbie DNS question

okay, this is a very very basic question, but something i need help with.

i set up a DNS server on a linux machine. i have another linux machine that i want to use that DNS. what do i need to put as the hostname for the DNS client machine? does it matter? for instance ...

the domain i set up is 'icnet'

so would my hostname need to say, 'mybox.icnet' or is 'mybox' sufficient? or does it matter?

You should use the IP address sice the client will not be able to resolve any domains until the DNS server has been contacted.
