Newb Ethernet problem. Please Help.

I am relatively new to linux. I recently upgraded from Mandrake 9.0 to 9.1.

Prior to the upgrade, my system automatically detected my internet connection and I never really had to think about it.

My problem now is that to get back on to the internet, I have a SMC EZ Connect Ethernet adaptor, I have to enter the following command as root: "dhcpcd -d eth0" to grab the lease from my ISP. Is there some way to get the system to automatically execute this when anyone logs on to the system.

Please excuse the naive nature of this question as I am really just starting to tinker with linux.

Mandrake has instituted zero-config on the network side for 9.1. I would suggest saving your /home or whatever files you wish to save and reinstall. Grabbing a DHCP lease is automatic for 9.1. As it should have been for 9.0, actually- but who knows.

Thanks Toreau! Did as you said and internet connection now working fine. Only problem now is that it seems as if my sound card is not being detected properly in a scenario that is similar to the network problem... Oh well, something else to try and figure out.
