New to Open LDAP. Trying to import an LDIF file.

Unable to import an LDIF file via ldapadd command. Using RedHat v9 with Open LDAP. I have LDAP installed but do not fully understand the structure of an LDIF file and what's needed in slapd.conf. Below is what I want to import and part of my slapd.conf.-

Slapd.conf-

suffix "dc=akr.mycompany,dc=com"
rootdn "cn=root,dc=akr.mycompany,dc=com"

My Test.ldif file-

dn: cn=david_winter
objectclass: top
objectclass: person
objectclass: organizationalPerson
objectclass: inetOrgPerson
sn: david_winter
cn: david_winter
uid: a006334
userpassword: {crypt}utXSBZ/9Tkip6

When I run the ldapadd command I get this response and error:

add objectclass:
top
person
organizationalPerson
InetOrgPerson
add sn:
david_winter
add cn:
david_winter
add uid:
a006334
add userpassword:
{crypt}utXSBZ/9Tkip6

adding new entry "cn=david_winter"
ldap_add: No such obect

Your ldap root at least must be part of your "dn"

dn: cn=david_winter,dc=akr.mycompany,dc=com

There may be other issues such as missing required fields as well.
