I would strongly reccomend using ssh and not telnet - see:
http://www.openssh.org

For setting up a webserver see:

Hi there,

I'd recommend using Apache as the web server and using SSH rather than telnet for shell access. Most distributions of Linux can install Apache and SSHd (the SSH server) as an installation option - if not they are certainally easy available as source, binary and RPM from:

http://www.apache.org and
http://www.openssh.org

Apache is a great and very powerful web server, IMHO the best free or commercial product for this role. Various HOW-TOs exist for server configuration with linux and I'd suggest browsing through The Linux Documentation Project (http://www.tldp.org).

A specific HOW-TO you may find helpful is:

http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/doc...WWW-HOWTO.html

Hope this helps,

Dave.
