New to Linux: Can't Connect to DSL Internet using Fedora 5 on Laptop
Hi everyone. I'm Stephen. I have a feeling that I will be very active here over the next few days as I get my newly installed Fedora 5 working properly. I'm new to Linux, but have a decent understanding of computers in general.
I have a plethora of questions, but I guess I had better start with the basics... specifically the internet. Right now I have to keep restarting into Windows to get online, so if I get this much fixed, at least I can ask my future questions from Linux.
Here's everything I can think of that is relevant about my laptop... let me know if you need anything else.
IBM ThinkPad R51
Intel Centriono
Windows XP / Fedora Core 5 Dual Boot with GRUB
512 meg memory
Ethernet Port: Intel Pro/100 VE Network Connection
Wireless: Intel Pro/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
DSL Internet (connected to a D-Link wireless router)
I would like to be able to connect to my wireless network, but I will settle for plugging into the Ethernet port for now if I have to.
I tried opening up the terminal in Fedora 5 to run "lspci" and "ifconfig," but got "no such command" errors. What should I try next?
