Red face New ra device after reboot

I am running Suse 10.2 and have a RT61 wireless card. Works fine. However, everytime I reboot my PC. I get a new 'device-name'.
So, when I set it up I started of with ra0 as being my wireless. Currently I am at ra4.
Logically by the next reboot I will have ra5.

here is the $1M question - how do I stop this crazy behaviour?? Any help is good.

PS. The interesting thing is that the system does bring it up at boot.
