new nic to configure

hi everybody,
i am a principiant about linux.
I have redhat9 on a server and i have to insert a new NIC into.
After putting into and rebooting the server, how can i configure it?

Can u be a bit more specific..u have added a new nic to your rh9 box which is being used as a server . Ok is the card recognised....lspci... u want to configure it to do what exactly? what type of network are u serving? do u want to connect to the internet with it? if so what type of connection are u using? more info would help :-)

- Yes, card is pci
- my server has to talk with a new network (i.e.; the NIC now installed is on net
- i do not want to connect to the internet with this card
i don't know if these info are enaugh, if it's not please tell me...

At the shell [ command ] prompt say at
root prompt type the command
# netconfig
Then you will be asked for the configuration of the network [ie dhcp or manually enter the IP address and press enter.]
After giving the required IP address at shell prompt enter the following comman
# service network restart
And check the LAN address is configured properly by
# ifconfig

i already have 2 nic on this server.
if a type netconfig to configure the new third network, how can i choose my new card?
