new network adapter under mandrake single network firewall

hello,
new to linux, i would like to use mandrake's singlenetwork firewall. unfortunately, during the installation, my network adapters aren't detected (d-link 550 tx and/or d-link 530tx). i found the right driver for the 550tx (sundance.c) at www.dlink.com but cannot install it as the gcc command seems to be unavailable. i didn't find any compiled module on the internet.
so, is the world agains me or is rescue on the way?
greetings,
sylvain

The rescue is on the way if you Install gcc :D

Is it not there in your path? Better to make sure that before trying to install.

thanks,
my quick install of this 1cd linux edition is definitely going to become some sort of a big problem. i think it would be simpler to get 2 different network adapters than installing gcc - which is probably not on the cd.
thanks again for your help,
nerip
