New distros don't connect to Droid 2 Hotspot

I am using Linux Mint 11 and I can connect to my Droid 2. (Previous versions of Mint and other distros work too). However, when I upgrade to Linux Mint 12 I get the same result - I can see the Droid 2 hotspot but it fails to connect. I have used open network and WPA2 security. No success either way.

I have tried nearly a dozen newer Linux distros, all have failed. This includes (but not necessarily exclusively):
- Ubuntu 11.10
- Fedora 16
- OpenSUSE 12.1
- Debian GNU/Linux 6
- Mandriva 2011
- KahelOS 111111
- Chakra GNU/Linux 2011.11
- Zorin OS 3.1
- Bodhi Linux 1.2.1
- Pinguy OS 10.04.3

OK. Perhaps no Linux experts use their Android phone as a hotspot. Can I ask someone with Linux expertise to try their Android hotspot on a newer Distro? I am puzzled by this bad behavior by newer distros.

FWIW, Droid 2 is my flavor, using Android 2.3x.

Do you need any more information from me?

Looks like no Linux guru's brave enough to take on this challenge. No trouble, I can continue to use Mint 11. I will, unfortunately, miss checking out new distros.
