Networking windows xp system with LInux (fedora)

How can i connect my Fedora Ver.4 (linux) to my windows xp system and be able to share internet and accept incoming connections,,

for example i can use internet on both comps, then goto my friends house connect through ip and see those same files on my server,

Ps: Is it better to have windows comp as host or not!

It can be done either way.

I assume you are familiar with networking, and you know that you need 2 connections on the gateway machine in order to work as such. (It will not make sense to use any of the machines as gateway if you have a Router for the access to the Internet.)

If you have the windows machine being the gateway, you configure the Internet connection sharing then configure the Linux machine to use the windows machine as gateway.

If you use the Linux machine as gateway you have to configure IP tables to forward the traffic from one network to the other; and have the Linux machine to use the Linux' IP address as gateway.

This is generally spoken. I would need to know what your Network setup is to give you specific instructions.
