Networking Prob

we have a gateway serving two networks.
One is a windoze LAN
One is a Linux DMZ
Weve set up iptables very simply and set forwarding for everything. IP Masquerading is on
We have adsl internet connectivity thru our gateway and from the dmz linux machine
but we have only partial internet connectivity from the Windoze LAN
We can connect to any site that we've been to before (cuz its in the cache I guess) but cant connect to an new site.
However we do have icq connectivity.
I can receive emails Ive sent myself but cant get emails that anyone else has sent me.
Dont seem to have connectivity to winmx (port 6699)

the thing is we did have internet connectivity to the windoze LAN and cant see that anything has changed since.

We goin crazy trynna work out wot the the problem is
ANy suggestion at all would be gladly received

nope DNS is fine.
We've defined the problem further tho.
We can actually get to new sites but it takes forever, but, after booting the first unknown site we attempt to get to loads very quickly. Just as it should. Subsequent attempts at connecting to unknown sites is very slow.

We are thinking its a Winbloze networking problem actually but havent a clue what

Do you mean that you can browse the net without any problems from your linux server.

Yep. Can browse from the Linux server fine and also from the Linux machine on the other network (It's acting as a Demilitarised Zone and Web server, or will be if we ever get everything working)
Its just weird that after booting we have fast download to the first site we go to but susbsequent downloads are painfully slow. (unless the site has been visited before, then its good and fast)
So If the site is in the cache or if its the first not previously visited site after booting, the download is fast.
other wise its dredfully slow...like it takes about 2 minutes to download a normal site

Hope your routing tables are ok ..., XPs pointing to the correct gateway.

You have not mentioned you have a proxy server (squid); assuming you don't have it.

Routing tables are fine and we dont have a proxy server.
It was working a few days ago.......alas not now.
I'm thining actually, as much as I hate to, that we may have a virus on the windows network thats screwing things up.
We did online virus scan yesterday but Ive had a weird error msg about ipcNL.exe
That mite indicate a worm still on the machine

but I mite be completely wrong
