Networking doesn't enable at the time of boot however it is configured to be
I have a system with Win7 as the Host OS and RHEL6 as a guest OS installed on a VM. I have enabled the networking to start at the time of boot itself but it doesn't and I have to restart the networking after logging into the system to turn it on. Could anyone please help me out, why does it happen? and also the ssh session gets disconnected quite frequently as well?
Following are some output from the system.. [root@RHEL6VM ~]# ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:29:50:22:66 inet6 addr: fe80::20c:29ff:fe50:2266/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:2036 Hi,
Is the following option present in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethX: Code:
ONBOOT=yes |
Yes it is present.
Yes it is present.

Did you check the log files to see if anything suspicious is going on during boot?
I'd start with checking /var/log/boot and the output of the dmesg command. But do check the other logs as well. |
First make sure that in the "/etc/sysconfig/network" file you have "NETWORKING=yes"
At the very top of your chkconfig --list, NetworkManager is turned off. That may or may not be intentional but NetworkManager starts the dhclient process when it is being used so that you can get an ip address through dhcp. If you intentionally turned it off, make sure ifcfg-eth0 says "NM_CONTROLLED=no" so that NetworkManager isn't in control of that interface. |
I have same problem with gauravgoel1989! Anyone can help us to fix it..thanks
