Networking 2 Linux PC's
Can someone give me some pointers on where to start with networking two Suse pc's together for file sharing?

they just need to running samba for windows file sharing, or NFS for native unix file sharing. both projects have good documentation on accomplishing what you need. you just need to get the both on the same network, best to go via a simple switch and bob's your uncle.

So you use NFS if both boxes are running Linux, is that right?
Are there any good guides or tutorials to help me do this?

It really is easy : Just get yourself started!
Once you have nfs running, there are a lot of good things to play with. You should look at:
ssh
scp
vnc
