network works only once in each reboot

hi
i have a netgear router and a cable internet connection.
I have a problem when i put linux on my machine,
the internet (all network services including ping to the router) works the first time i log in.
If i log out and log back in, then the network doesn't work any more. I cannot even ping 192.168.0.1 (router)
it says network unreacahble.
I tried with static ips and dhcp
I tried with fedora c2 and mandrake 10
can someone please help me. I am a newbie to linux and fast losing my faith :-(

try "netconfig" for network configuration on your linux box.
if this doesn't worked out then look into your ethernet interface on linux box.
