Network Unreachable for Destination Network other than Interface

Hi,

I have a pretty simple network and facing problem while setting routes.

Network @ a glance:
-------------------
Linux machine (two eth interfaces) is in one side and the other end is connected to two Firewalls. No Layer3 devices exists in between.

Interface Info:
---------------
eth0 ip is 10.15.1.2/29 and peer ip of Firewall interface is 10.15.1.1/29
eth1 ip is 10.6.6.2/29 and peer ip of Firewall interface is 10.6.6.1/29

So far, it works fine and 10.15.1.1 & 10.6.6.1 is reachable.

Real Problem:
--------------
When I tried to add route of different network (let's say 10.234.0.0/16 towards the gateway 10.15.1.1) it's not accepting and the message is "NETWORK UNREACHABLE".

May anyone help me out, please.

//Jack

how are you adding the route? you should be able to do something like

route add -net 10.234.0.0/16 gw 10.15.1.1

Check your current routing table (route -vn)

Where does the response "NETWORK UNREACHABLE" come from? From your linux box, or from the gateway? If it is from the gateway, your routing is fine, but it may be the firewall blocking the network.

Like dr_agon said maybe the firewall is blocking the packets or theres is no route in the firewall/gateway for that network, so the packets don't know where to return too.
