network server

I would like to set up a network server. I am running windows xp. I am using filezilla. I have assigned it a static IP address. I am able to ping it from another computer in the same network.

I understand that I must use port forwarding to set the desktop up as a server. I am in my verizon fios router, and am not sure of how to set it up. I know FTP uses port 21, and I know the static IP of the desktop.

is the attached image where I would want to apply this rule?

If your unable to ping ure WinXP machine from the same network, the problem (configuration) doesnt lie in the router.

Check if the cables are working & connected properly & Try turning off the firewall on the machines

On the WinXP machine, telnet localhost 21 to check if the ftp server is running.
