network problems with olicom gocard 2250

Just installed slackware 9.1 on my laptop(irrelevant but anyways: p3 500, 192mb ram), and it seems to recognize the network card,a olicom gocard 2250, but i cannot ping anything like my router or other machines, i think the card works, light comes on the dongle(usually doesnt if computer doesnt recognize it,past experience with windows). I am new to linux and how it works, but i do think this card uses the tulip module, i see output from it at boot.

Anyways, no matter what I do I cannot get it working, tried using rp-pppoe and cannot connect, and no luck going through my router(handles all pppoe related for me/dhcp server as well)

excuse my horrid enflish.
any help with this would be appreciated,
loiosh - the
