Network problems in suse 9.0

I have a real tek network adapter which works fine in windows xp but not in suse 9.0.
When suse loads it finds
but reports eth0 has failed
Is it possible for me to get an connection to suse ?

I don't want to use xp!

wozzle & Mo6eB; section 4.4
networking all subsections 4.4.1 through 4.4.10 and expand each.
