Network Printer (Lexmark Optra T610) Problem.

My Dell Inspiron 2500 has Mandrake Linux 8.0.
It worked successfully before with the network printer (Lexmark Optra T610) in the LAN. But recently the printer has been re-set because of
a power failure, and then my laptop (Mandrake Linux 8.0) doesn't work with the printer anymore.
No matter how many times I re-configure the printer to be "network printer" with the correct ip address of the printer server, it always says
"the printer is not ready". The following is what happens when I use lpq command to check the status of the printer
> lpq
lp is not ready
no entries

Can anybody tell me what to do to re-configure my Linux with the network printer? Thanx!

Make sure that the subnet is correct on you Lexmark printer...
Make sure you can ping your priner.
Also you might try to kill the lpd and then restart it....

As root do ps -aux |grep lpd
kill any lpd processes (be careful not to kill yourself)
then do "lpd" to restart the lpd.

I have a lot of experience networking Lexmark 6XX printers so if you can't get it working send me a copy of your "Print Menus" and "Print Net Setup" pages off of the printer and I'll see what I can find.

Also Lexmark has a printer manager for Linux which can configure, autofind, and install printers onto your system. You can download it at www.lexmark.com.

Good luck!
