Network Printer...
i have a printer connected to one of my computers by USB and i have it hooked up so i can get it to be networked! (It runs Windows 98) My second computer can print off just fine (it is Windows XP Home) but i cant seem to get my Red Hat Linux 9 mechine to be working...any help would be greatly appreciated

Your printer is connected to a windows98 box, correct.
You can use RedHat's Printer Configuration GUI tool to configure a SMB printer. Select Networked Windows (SMB) You can take a look at this documentation for more information. http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...b-printer.html |
yeah...ive done all of that and it still doesnt work...

What does smbclient report?
Try:
smbclient -L w98pcname If you see the printer as a share, that is good. If not, then it is a little more complicated. The stuff below assumes you'll see the share. Are you running cups? If not start it. In cups you can setup the printer. http://localhost:631 to get to the cups config page. As administrator, add a new printer. Use the system name or ip address and the share name of the printer. |
