/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb start

should bring it up
however you need to have permission to view the folders

if the logged in user is not a user on the system you need to enable the pcguest

Im useing the new Redhat 7.3 the documentation I have read says that i dont need to run that. Perhaps I do, does this make a difference?

or you need to run nmbd and smbd

but smb does both and is setup to start automatically on boot

run setup > system services > select smb

save > quit
