Network monitoring
I want to make an application in C++ for network monitoring.
Please suggest some reference books/sites/programming egs which can be helpful.

tried ipaudit?
take a look at http://ipaudit.sourceforge.net/ipaudit-web/
it is a really good network monitoring application, if you wan't something else maybe you'll find something useful in it's scripts

It's real easy: cat /proc/net/dev, grep it for the device you want, pipe it to a file, then open that file in c and see how many bytes have passed since the last update and divide it by the time.
