Network Logs, Monitoring and storing

I am using Ubuntu Desktop. The can see network History from system monitor but it shows graph of limited time. I can see that where and how much data is used from my system.

For example Let my system monitor shows that 100 MB is used but It does not show how much data is by specific application like Firefox or any other. How can I see these logs?

Please tell me from where I can see network logs. May I see these logs in category wise? If Yes then how?

Hi.

You may want to try:
Code:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ntop

http://www.tldp.org/LDP/sag/html/sag.html

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ntop

...have fun.

Correction: I should have run the commands first. Ntop is forked or whatever, Darkstat looks cool?

Add: or Wireshark for over kill?
