network/hardware/file transfer efficiency RH9
hello all:
this might sound like a high-school algebra problem, but i will do my best to be clear... i am having rather significant file transfer efficiency problems between two RH machines on my network. one machine (machine "A") is required to access a data server (machine "B"). machine A has only IDE hard disks, whereas machine B has only SCSI hard disks. from A, when i execute a file transfer from a B-disk to another B-disk, transfer speed is only ~ 800kb/s. from B, when i execute a file transfer from a B-disk to another B-disk, transfer speed is ~ 27Mb/s. expectedly faster. from B, when i execute a file transfer from a B-disk to an A-disk, transfer speed is again slow -- ~ 800kb/s. my question is thus: is there any way to increase efficiency on machine A such that file transfers executed on A between 2 B-disks are comparable to file transfers executed on B between 2 B-disks? THANKS!! hope i wasn't too confusing... |
