Network eth1 goes down often.

Distro - Zenwalk 6

Hey Guys,

When ever there is a voltage fluctiation in the house, my network eth1 connected through USB via Broadband router goes down. I have to right click on the wicd applet in system tray and connect manually.

This thing is annoying me alot. I cant put some thing for downloading for a long time.. :'(

This is what i manage to get from /var/log/messages file.

Code:
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) dhcpcd[2578]: eth1: no rebind time supplied, assuming 75600 seconds
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) dhcpcd[2578]: eth1: adding IP address X.X.X.X/X
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) avahi-daemon[3062]: Joining mDNS multicast group on interface eth1.IPv4 with address X.X.X.X/X
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) avahi-daemon[3062]: New relevant interface eth1.IPv4 for mDNS.
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) avahi-daemon[3062]: Registering new address record for X.X.X.X/X on eth1.IPv4.
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) dhcpcd[2578]: eth1: adding default route via X.X.X.X/X metric 0
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) dhcpcd[2578]: eth1: adding route to X.X.X.X/X metric 0
Jul 1 22:38:52 (none) dhcpcd[2578]: eth1: exiting
Jul 1 22:39:07 (none) dhcpcd[1748]: eth0: adding IP address X.X.X.X/X
Jul 1 22:40:00 (none) last message repeated 2 times

I disabled ACPI, but still the problem exists. And on Windows Xp, i dont have problem as this is.
Thinking of trying Ubuntu or some other and see if same problem exists.. But i luv Zenwalk and want to solve it..

Thanks

Use a UPS. Put a cron job to automatically connect to the internet.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

Even with the UPS, when the power goes down. UPS backs up my system. Still then also the Network goes down. Voltage fluctuation means not the power down. But switching on a light or putting it off.

And cud u plz elgithen me abot the cron job. I have no idea any thing on cron.
