Network error: No route to host Putty

Hi

I'm having a problem problem when I try to connect to my University server.

I use putty to connect to the server... BTW..I do have an account in that server

But I keep getting an error that say..."Network Error: No route to host" I'm using (XP with sp2). I know this forum is for linux question. But I do use linux and even with linux i get the same error. because linux has to forward its packet through XP to connect to the Internet.

I can ping, surf, dig, etc. from linux to xp, and xp to linux. no problem.. I can even ssh to linux from the xp-box using Putty. Its just when I try to connect to the University server I get that error.

I have ZoneAlarm and windows firewall. I have shut them both down, still I keep getting the same error. I have also set IP forwarding to (1)in XP not sure if that even helped... but still nothing!.

Its definitely my pc. because I have tried to connect from an Internet shop, and I was successful.

I appreciate any support regarding this matter.

Regards

Adil

Are You success to ping the University server from Your XP-box?
Show the tracert -d <ip_of_the_university_server> command output issued on your XP-box, please.

Thanks for replying

I can't ping the University IP or host name...

here what I get..

C:\ping simt.unl.ac.uk

Pinging simt.unl.ac.uk [163.167.64.67] with 32 bytes of data:

Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.
Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 163.167.64.67:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

C:\

And when tracing...

C:\>tracert -d 163.167.64.67

Tracing route to 163.167.64.67 over a maximum of 30 hops

1 Destination host unreachable.

Trace complete.

C:\>tracert -d simt.unl.ac.uk

Tracing route to simt.unl.ac.uk [163.167.64.67]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 Destination host unreachable.

Trace complete.

Here is my trace:
Code:
C:\>tracert simt.unl.ac.uk
Tracing route to simt.unl.ac.uk [163.167.64.67] over a maximum of 30 hops
  ...
  5 147 ms 133 ms 136 ms po0-0.lond-scr.ja.net [146.97.33.33]
  6 141 ms 155 ms 145 ms po1-0.london-bar1.ja.net [146.97.35.6]
  7 129 ms 140 ms 131 ms ulcc-gsr.lmn.net.uk [146.97.40.34]
  8 137 ms 138 ms 134 ms lmu-north.lmn.net.uk [194.83.101.142]
  9 * * lmu-north.lmn.net.uk [194.83.101.142] Destination host unreachable.
Trace complete.
C:\>
So, host lmu-north.lmn.net.uk [194.83.101.142] sends an ICMP message "host unreachable" to me (and to You) since it has no route to simt.unl.ac.uk or it filters our IPs from access to simt.unl.ac.uk by ACL. If You can You may talk with an administrator of the lmu-north.lmn.net.uk router.

Here is who is info about lmu-north.lmn.net.uk:
