network domains

just to prove i don't know all too much...

i have a gateway online 24/7, called cakenet.dynu.com. on my network, my workstation is called pete. how do i rig it up so i can log directly into trevor, and not have to go via the gateway?

i.e.
ssh pete.cakenet.dynu.com
vs
ssh cakenet.dynu.com
ssh pete

is it summat to do with MX records or something. it's not the ssh issue i mena, but the domain stuff... only after a pointer in teh right direction, as i've no real idea what would deal with it.

One sollution could be to set ssh on every pc on an other port and forward the ports to the correct pc.

oh no, there's a proper way to do it... i just don't really know what it's called in order to do it...
