Network Booting, Mounting remote file system
 

Ok I've been using linux for quite a long time. But this is a new path for me.

I do not have a lot of cash to spend and I have limited Hard drive space. I have 2 windows machines and a Linux box.

I would like to know if it is possible to Boot from a floppy and mount my linux machines file system as my own.. through the network.

ie. I want to use my machine as a "terminal" to access my linux machine.

Is this possible?
If so can you lead me in the general direction of documentation explaining how i might do this?

I want a "fully running Linux". Not hyperterm or telnet. I need to be able to access it as if i installed it on my hard drive.

I need the "virtual consoles" and other features that do not exist in windows/telnet sessions

You don't say what you will do with the machines when they are linked (which is a pretty big factor).

Connecting them as a network is the first step.

Then you can use the windows 'hyperterm' or similar terminal program to connect to the linux box in ascii mode.

or you can run samba on the linux box and map the linux drives in windows

(or you can run X applications remotely, but I do not know how)

So, as I say... it depends what sort of remote access you are looking for.

Sounds like you want full control of linux box from win box right? Try VNC. It displays the desktop of the target pc in a window and it is my understanding that you have full control and functionallity.
