network bond & switch config

Hi

I have configured Ethernet-bonding on Dell Server as an active-backup. do I have to configure cisco switch for this ? or it is enough.

if I un-plug the network cable from one interface, I am unable to get the reply from server . is there any configuration issue ?

thanks

That depends on which bonding mode you're using. Some modes require that the switch be configured in a particular way, others don't.

If you want the switch to load balance outboud traffic to your server across the individual links in the team, you will have to select one of the bonding modes that require configuration on the switch side.

I think it's fairly safe to say that there is, yes.

I searched through the archive of my memory, and from what I was able to retrieve, Cisco switches keep/propagate the MAC addresses of the interfaces at the other end of the cable. Not sure how you implemented bonding though.
