Network Alert System

I have a network with 300 users and some linux servers. Right now, some one has to call me to let me know that the linux servers are down. I was wondering if there is any software that can check if this machines are running and call my cell phone if they are down? I know the technology exists. I just don't know any specific packages.

I have red hat based linux servers! I have to have the alert system functional by October 29, 2004.

Thank You!

Well a ping script should do the trick... as ping is used to know wether a machine is alive or not

Checkout BigBrother or Nagios

My personal favorite is BigBrother.
