Network Adapter Compatability Question

Ok im using a Dlink DFE-550TX PCI adapter which I know is compatible with RedHat9. My question is that im running a router so I dont wanna run a cable to my next floor which is housing my redhat server machine. Does anyone know if there are any wireless cards supported by redhat or any drivers available for any mainstream w/l NIC? If I cant find any what do you guys think is best solution, wireless usb adapter (does redhat support this?), or wireless hub/switch (then I will hard wire my Dlink DFE-550TX card into the switch or hub), or wireless router ( so I will have 2 wireless routers now, one on the top floor to which my dsl is connected and one next to my redhat machine hard wired into the Dlink DFE-550TX card)

there's plenty of wireless cards that work with linux...

have you checked-out LQ's hardware compatibility list???

here's the network card section, there's lost of wireless cards with "10's" in there...

personally, i've used cards with "prism" chips with no problems...

=)

Thanks for the link, I just wanna know how to download it, am i supposed to copy and paste one of the links below? Im not to sure, then how do I install the drivers?

CVS

To obtain a copy of the driver via CVS, please do the following:
$ cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/acx100 login
$ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/acx100 co acx100
When prompted for a password, just hit Enter.

but i'm not sure why you're trying to download that acx100 stuff, as your card uses the sundance chipset...

Well yes I know the DFE-550TX is 100% supported but I was mostly interested in the drivers for my DWL 520+ Wireless card and how to install them, my last resort will be to use the DFE-550TX. Oh ya, also do you know of any wireless USB adapters that will work with RedHat9 also?

okay, now i understand why you were trying to use the acx100 cvs...

=)

here's the link at hcl for the 520:

here's the link to the acx100 download on sourceforge (you don't need to use cvs):

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/a...ar.gz?download

you could also use an rpm, i found this site:

http://dag.wieers.com/packages/kerne...protest=please

or you could use linuxant drivers, but they cost money:

as for the wireless usb adapters, try searching google's linux section:

win32sux 04-10-2004 06:21 PM

i'm glad you got the card working... what did you end-up using???
