network 2 linux machines
 
i am new to networking on linux machines, i have my laptop and my desktop on a LAN and would like to know how it is that i can browse files on my desktop from my laptop, can anyone tell me quickly how to do this or point me to a howto?

you want to be able to browse files? so i assume everything is working with the network hardware and you can at least ping the other machines or some other form of network contact.


to browse files either setup:
1) FTP Server
2) NFS http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/docs/HOWTO/NFS-HOWTO

that should allow you to share files fairly well. for something like remote command execution look into ssh.

Maybe what watashiwaotaku7 wants is some thing like network neighbourhood at windows.... you have to install some third party software !!!
