They're probably all screwed up. You should learn about iptables and create your own rules. If you're aprehensive about getting rid of your current rules you can save them using iptables-save. The syntax is iptables-save > /pathname/filename, then run the command iptables -F to remove all your current rules, then try accessing your box, I bet you'll access it fine. If removing the firewall rules fixes your problem you should prevent the rules from being restored as they would be when you rebooted. There's a file in /etc/sysconfig named iptables that contains the rules that would restore the ones you have now, so you should rename the file or move it to keep the rules from being restored on a reboot (but you should get to work on creating new ones right away). ok will try that. I thought maybe I screwed up my linux install so I formatted and reinstalled linux today and put XP back on the other computer but now I cant even ping the other computer. It's not a big deal but I would just like to get this setup lol
It works it works it works it works! lol I dont know what I did but it works now and the windows computer is able to access the net thru my linux box and the network works also!
Thanks everyone for there help and for putting up with me. I hope other people can get there to work by reading this lengthy thread.
