netgear fa311... again
:newbie:
hey, i'm a linux newbie running suse professional 8.2 with a netgear fa311 nic and i've read about one thousand threads with advice on how to get it to work but nothing i do seems to work all that well. when i run kinternet it says it can not connect and that smpppd is not running. so far i've run modprobe natsemi and dhcpcd natsemi and i still do not get the results i am looking for. right now i can google and go to netgear's website but they come in at dialup speed and i can not do anything beyond that. some help? |
I was looking at the HCL entry for the Netgear FA311 and it seems that it is actually a very compatible card. One of the guys there uses the "tulip" drivers, not the natsemi ones - have you tried tulip? You may want to see if the tulip ones work, and if they don't then please report back.
J_K9 P.S Could it be possible that your current version of natsemi is having problems with some of SUSE's software or kernel? |
i tried it with the tulip module and that did not work at all. i am not sure about the kernel part, but i haven't done much with suse since i took it out of the box and installed it. so i do not see why the driver would be outdated.
