NetGear ADSL Router

Hi

I've just bought a Netgear DG834GUK ADSL modem router. However I have had no success under Suse 9 getting it to work. When I set it up under windows xp I had to leave the PC's ip address as DHCP and specify the DNS servers of my isp. Doing this I can now connect via windows.

I tried a similar thing with SUse leaving the IP address as DHCP and specifying the DNS form my ISP., also adding 192.168.0.1 as the gateway. This dosen't work I have tried specifying static IP address but this dosent work either ( I tried the same thing under windows and the netgear dosent seem to like static IPs )

I can access the routers setup by typing 192.168.0.1 in Konquerors address bar , so I assume the two are talking to each other and the router says it is connected to the internet but I can't browse etc.

I am not tooclued up on networking so any help would be gratefully received as I am pretty depressed at the prospect of having to use windows!

Thanks alot

Richard G.

Not to worry, I seem to have it sorted. After Typing in 'ip route add default via 192.168.0.1', which gave me a message 'File already exists ' I then tried a static IP address for My Pc and this time the router accepted it!?!? I had tried static IP's under both Linux and windows and both times the netgear objected. Still its working that's the main thing!
