netcfg default profile

Hello, when using netcfg with two network profiles, is there a way to set the "default" one? I mean that the two profiles should be active at the same time, but all the applications should connect to the net through the default interface, unless I explicitly specify the secondary interface.

Here are the details:
I am using ArchLinux and have succesfully set up a wireless network profile with WPA, as described here. The network works through interface wlan0, gets IP address dynamically (DHCP), the gateway is the wireless router. This setup works (almost) correctly.
Now I want to set up USB networking to login to a Nokia N810 device, I am doing the steps described here and here This is essentially an ethernet over USB connection, with static IP assignment. I was also able to set up this profile and connect to the device through USB.

Now the problem is, that when both profiles are active, all programs (browser, ping, etc.) try to connect through the USB connection, and of course they do not reach the gateway. This always happens, no matter if I start first the wireless connection then the USB or the other way round. I have also tried changing the iptable forward rules from eth0 to wlan0, as I have a wireless connection.

What I want to achieve is the following:
First the wireless connection is activated, then the USB (the order is important, because the wireless connection is activated automatically at startup). If I use whichever networked application, that application connects using the wireless interface.
I can SSH to the device through the USB connection. In man ssh I did not see any options for specifying the interface, so I guess I should do something like:
Code:
ssh -b <static IP address>
Thanks for any help.
