Samba Question

I am using samba to on Red Hat Linux 7.0
There is a problem occuring with the NetBios Name. When I gave the netbios name of lenght greater then 7 characters then I can see the shares on windows client by simply doing "\\<netbios-name>" but when I gave the netbios name of lenght less then or equal to 7 characters then the windows client says the "You are not authorized to access from this station". Can you tell me why samba is showing this kind of behavious

Quote:
Example:

Case 1:
Linux Samba smb.conf :- netbios name = LinuxSamba # netbios name > 8 chr
Windows Client :- \\LinuxSamba #Works

Case 1:
Linux Samba smb.conf :- netbios name = Linux # netbios name < 8 chr
Windows Client :- \\LinuxSamba # Does not Work

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
