need to setup router to share and route dialup connection
Hello all!
I'm a SUPER linux n00b. I want to setup a linux box with the following, is it possible? if so then how????? if one of you fine people could provide me with links to sites on how to do this, or explain it, i would love you for ever. I'm willing to use any distro over another if you provide a reason why one such distro works better it must: server as router leasing IPs to computers on the network via DHCP (static is ok too i guesS) Share the incoming 56k internet dial up connection with the other computers on the network possibly host local FTP/http (only accessible to LAN computers) eventually host games, but thats not required right now (for LAN computers) from what i gather should it be all physically connected as follows? dial up modem connected to linux box via serial port. linux box connected to rest of network via network interface card I guess what i want is the linux box to serve as a gateway/router serving up internet and goodies for all the comps in the house, connecting to the net via dialup ive found many a guide/tutorial/explanation of how to do ity with broadband but im wondering whats different for dialup. thank you ALL for any help! |
