Configuring PPTP
1. In the Windows Control Panel, click on the Network Connections icon. (Figure 1).

2. Click on the Create a new connection (Figure 2).

3. In the New Connection Wizard click Next (Figure 3).

4. Select Connect to the network at my workplace and then click Next (Figure 4).

5. Select Virtual Private Network connection and then click Next (Figure 5).

6. Enter the Connection Name and then click Next (Figure 6).

7. If prompted select either Do not dial the initial connection or Automatically dial the initial connection (pull down your internet connection) and then click Next (Figure 7).

8. Enter the VPN Server Selection of 'pptpvpn.dal01.softlayer.com' and then click Next (Figure 8).

9. If prompted select either Anyone's use or My use only and then click on Next (Figure 9).

10. Complete the Wizard by clicking on Finish (Figure 10).

Modifying the Connection Properties

1. Click on the Properties button to modify the settings (Figure 11).

2. Click on the Networking tab (Figure 12).

3. Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and then click on Properties (Figure 13).

4. Click the radio button "Use the Following DNS server addresses" and enter "10.4.102.130" under 'Preferred DNS Servers' Then Click on the Advanced button (Figure 14).

5. Uncheck Use default gateway on remote network and then click OK (Figure 15).

6. Click OK (Figure 16).

Connecting

1. Enter your username and password and then click on Connect (Figure 18).

2. You should see the connection trying to verify your username and password (Figure 19).

3. If authenticated properly the connection window will minimize to your taskbar as a dual computer icon. You can run your mouse over it to get the status of the connection (Figure 20).

4. To test your connection you can ping one of SoftLayer's backend name servers at 10.0.80.11 (Figure 21).
