Looking at the web site,
http://chakra-linux.org/, it seems that
KDE is the window manager? If that's what you're using, there is a
KDE utility,
KPPP (Kickoff Application Launcher, Internet, Internet Dial-up Tool) that you can use.
It's a fill-in-the-boxes application that simplifies the process of getting connected to a wi-fi gadget -- give that a try.
There's also
WICD,
http://wicd.sourceforge.net/, "Wicd is an open source wired and wireless network manager for Linux which aims to provide a simple interface to connect to networks with a wide variety of settings."
WICD may already be installed on your system or available from your distribution software library or you can build it from source code at the link.
Hope this helps some.
