Unhappy named only starting sometimes.

I am running Mandrake 9.0 with named 9.1. Sometimes the named server runs fine and works perfectly however after I shut it down and reboot it, the service will not start. I run ./etc/init.d/named start and it returns

Starting named....OK

but it still isn't running because when I do a /.etc/init.d/named restart, it returns

Shutting down named........Failed
Starting named....OK

What's the deal? Has anyone else had this kind of problem?

I've had similar experience with MySQL under MDK 9.0 .. What I've done to get around it is just added the start command to my rc.local file.
The following command should do that for you in Mandrake 9.0
assuming "named" is the name of the service as referenced in the init.d directory:
echo "/etc/init.d/named start" >> /etc/rc.local

As for "Why" -- I don't know.

Still doesn't work still returns Failed when it stops and Ok when starts but really doesn't start. Is there a way to start bind (named) without scripts (manually)?
