mysterious download activity ???

My problem is that since a day or so I can see my computer is downloading something, but I don't know what and cannot seem to stop it.

I am running SuSE 8.0 and am using xosview to monitor what my comp is doing. Usually, the "net" section shows no activity, unless I am surfing or doing something else that requires up- or download. Now, it shows continuous activity, between 6 and 40 K download. When I use iptraf to see what is going on, there are no strange connections. I have also tried lsof and then grepping on TCP, nothing strange there either.

How can I trace which program is causing this activity and why? Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should be able to see all open connections with:
netstat -n

also iptstate is a tool for looking at connections - IF you use iptables
(i suggest to do so).

I have tried netstat -n, there are no strange connections. Could it be some internal traffic or something? I am using a router. How can I check this? I really want to know what it is, and stop it...
