My Mint WiFi is not connecting.

Hi, running Mint 19 on a desktop with a WiFi dongle, and using a computer adjacent to it now. My Mint connection shows my WiFi address but shows no signal strength. It will no longer connect after I had to restart my computer. It was slow and there was a reading about an error. It restarts well enough, but even the second restart does not get a connection. I tried removing and replacing in, the same WiFi dongle. I tried restarting the WiFi. It goes here on Windows 10. About a week ago, I got on Windows 10 a fake Microsoft page. Maybe spyware?

What is wrong on my Mint PC?

What was the error? It could be a wrong driver, Or maybe the dongle itself is bad. Do you have another one to test out?

I tried at first 2 USB ports, no luck, but a third one at the front a separate card, and it goes. So the dongle is okay, somehow the port must be faulty and I will have to further test it.

I tested they ports, the work for data. The usb wifi dongle works, there was a signal, but it would not connect or would read no signal strength or would not display the list of signals, then did not acknowledge the wifi dongle. I suspect the HDD or software has a fault, and will install a new SSD and WiFi card. And maybe use another distro.
