Hello,
I am using a Freebox Mini 4k provided by my ISP Free.
Since many years I am on ADSL.
I configure my Freebox through its web interface to work as a modem (not as a router).
Then I connect this Freebox through an Ethernet cable to a machine working on Linux and configured to be the router on my network.
This is perfect for me because I can configure with
iptables everything that I want and it is more efficient than using the Feeebox web interface.
However, recently a Free technician comes to my home to switch from ADSL to Fiber.
Since this modification, when I set the Freebox to work as a modem, I don't have Internet.
Indeed, on the machine working on Linux I can still get my public IP address through DHCP but a
ping www.free.fr has 100% packet lost.
When I set the Freebox to work as a router, I have Internet.
Is there a special thing to do for a machine working on Linux and configured to be the router on my network when the modem is using Fiber or is it exactly the same thing than with ADSL?
Thank you.
Best regards.
