My Freebox works well as router but does not work as modem

Hello,

I am using a Freebox Mini 4k provided by my ISP Free.
Since many years I am on ADSL.
I configure my Freebox through its web interface to work as a modem (not as a router).
Then I connect this Freebox through an Ethernet cable to a machine working on Linux and configured to be the router on my network.
This is perfect for me because I can configure with iptables everything that I want and it is more efficient than using the Feeebox web interface.

However, recently a Free technician comes to my home to switch from ADSL to Fiber.
Since this modification, when I set the Freebox to work as a modem, I don't have Internet.
Indeed, on the machine working on Linux I can still get my public IP address through DHCP but a ping www.free.fr has 100% packet lost.
When I set the Freebox to work as a router, I have Internet.

Is there a special thing to do for a machine working on Linux and configured to be the router on my network when the modem is using Fiber or is it exactly the same thing than with ADSL?

Thank you.
Best regards.

Hello,

I use freebox Delta, not sure that it's the same way of configuration but :
You should find somewhere a possibility to activate DMZ.
You have a place to put the ip of your linux box acting as router for your lan there too.
Yout linux router must have freebox ip as gateway.

That should do the trick

Back,

Something i forgot is that with fiber you should request a full stack ip V4 because free use to "split" all the ports to 4 users.
If you have some servers running services like apache, ftp, ssh... and dont have the first ranges of ports then you're stuck.
You can request a full stack IPV4 on your web interface. Take also care that your IP will change.
After getting your full stack, you also have a static IP.

hth,
