Well i modified the /etc/host.conf like

order hosts,bind
multi on

it worked for www.linuxquestions.org but when i try www.yahoo.com it's not working, again. After that i couldn't reach another server by its name.

That's the reason why i edited the post. After i wrote it, i wanted to see if another domain works, but fail (no servers could be reached), so I modified the post.

You never said what in your etc/host file

My etc/host file looks like this for lfs.

# Begin /etc/hosts (network card version)

127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.0.5 chevy.homenetwork chevy

# End /etc/hosts (network card version)

And like this for debian 3.1

127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.0.5 debian.hom debian

if this does not work go to www.google.com/linux and try 'networking howto'

good luck

my /etc/hosts file looks like yours.

Recently i tried another

nslookup www.yahoo.com 192.168.0.2 (one of my DNS) and i get SERVFAIL
If i try the same but with my second DNS it says: no servers could be reached.

I contact my network admin, and if i'll have further problems, i'll post a reply here.
