MX record howto setup

I am trying to setup a mail server
I have a static ip
my domain name server is:
the machine is connected to the internet
I want to know what file to edit so I can configure the MX record for my domain
I already setup the DNS SERVER and it runing good
I am using sendmail as the MTA

What OS and what DNS server are you running? BIND?

More importantly, are you sure you're hosting your own DNS, or is your registrar or ISP hosting that for you?

I am using mandrake 10.0
I use bind to host my own dns server and I trying to setup MX for sendmail
