mount: mount to NFS server '192.168.15.2' failed: System Error: No route to host.
 

hi guys im back again :)

this time prb with NFS. i have made my machine1 192.168.15.2 a NFS server
and machine2 192.168.15.3 NFS client. but im getting this error although this time i have disabled all the firewalls and SElinux on both machines.

When im mounting my client to the server.

mount: mount to NFS server '192.168.15.2' failed: System Error: No route to host.

help me out .

Hi,

It looks like there is no network connection between the two machines. Can you ping one from the other? If so can you ssh from one to the other? Try this both ways. If the ping does not work then you have a network issue. It may be a dodgy cable or a broken NIC.

What do you have between the two machines? A switch perhaps, or a router? Do you have anything else on your network?

Note that, if it's a router, the 192.168.*.* addresses are one of the "non-routable" address sets, so no address in that (or the other two non-routable address groups) will "pass through" a router. Some switches also block non-routable addresses.

i can ping and ssh also .. i think the prb is coz of the router which is also my dhcp . it is not allowing traffic of PTrenholme speaks. :(
i'll speak with the administrator then .....

I didn't know that about a router. I have 2 pcs with 192.168.1.n addresses and they see each other ok either side of the wireless router we have.
